HiBoard Privacy Policy
The short version
- HiBoard does not collect, store, or share any personal information.
- There are no accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking.
- Your messages and settings stay on your iPhone.
This policy explains how HiBoard ("the app"), published by Nautika Corporation ("we", "us"), handles information. We built HiBoard so that it works entirely on your iPhone and sends nothing to us.
Information we collect
None. HiBoard does not collect any personal information or usage data, and we never receive the text you display. The app contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking code, and no third-party software development kits.
Information stored on your device
To remember your preferences between launches, HiBoard saves the following on your iPhone only:
- The most recent banner text you entered
- Your chosen background color, text color, and scrolling speed
This information never leaves your device, except as part of your own iCloud or computer backup if you have backups turned on. Deleting the app deletes this information.
Microphone and speech recognition
HiBoard uses the microphone only when you tap the microphone button to dictate your banner text, and only after you grant permission. Your speech is converted to text using Apple's speech recognition:
- When your iPhone supports on-device recognition for your language, your speech is processed entirely on your iPhone and is not sent anywhere.
- Otherwise, your speech is sent to Apple to be converted to text. This is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy.
We never receive, record, or store your audio or the resulting text. You can turn microphone and speech recognition access on or off at any time in the iPhone Settings app under Privacy & Security.
Battery level and screen brightness
While a banner is showing, HiBoard reads your iPhone's battery level so it can lower the screen brightness when the battery drops below 20%. HiBoard also keeps the screen from turning off and adjusts its brightness while a banner is showing. Battery level is used only on your iPhone, at that moment. It is not stored or sent anywhere.
Children's privacy
HiBoard is suitable for all ages. Because the app does not collect any personal information, it does not collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how HiBoard handles information, we will update this page and its effective date. If a future version ever collects information, we will explain what and why here before that version is released.
